Privacy notice

This notice is a draft and is still being reviewed. The full notice, with our contact details and our Information Officer, will be published before paid plans launch.

1. Who we are

Tempify (tempify.co.za) is a web app for scaffold design drawings and the paperwork that goes with them. This notice says what personal information Tempify keeps, why, where it is kept and what you can ask us to do with it, as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) requires.

2. What we keep

Only what you or your company enter:

  • Your account: your name, email address, phone number and your company's name.
  • Your company: its name, phone, email and addresses, its registration numbers (CIPC, VAT, COIDA, BIBC) and its logo.
  • Your company's staff, where your company adds them: name, job, employee number, phone, email and photo; ID or passport number and emergency contact; pay rate, if your company switches pay rates on; certificates and medicals, with a copy if one is uploaded.
  • Your projects: the client and site names, the site address and its place on the map, the dates, the design and any picture you upload to trace from.
  • The daily check-in: who was checked in at which site and when, and the phone's location at that moment if the phone gives it.
  • A security log: logins and failed logins, deleted projects, and when the Print Screen key is pressed on a drawing or document page. We don't keep IP addresses in it.
  • While sign-up is by invitation: the email addresses of the people who were invited, also before they have an account.

3. Why we keep it

  • To give you the service: your drawings, quantity lists, calculations, procedures and site forms carry these details.
  • To let your company decide who may see and do what.
  • To keep accounts and designs safe, and to look into misuse.

4. Who can see it

People in your own company, as far as your company's super admin allows: ID numbers, emergency contacts and pay rates are only shown to people who were given that permission. Tempify's own staff may look at it to help you or to keep the service safe. We don't sell personal information and we don't use it for advertising.

If your company adds its staff to Tempify, your company is responsible for telling them, including that their location is recorded when they are checked in.

5. Where it is kept, and who helps us

  • The database and uploaded files are kept with Supabase. While Tempify is being tested they are in the European Union (Paris); the live service is planned for South Africa (Cape Town).
  • The website runs on Vercel.
  • Maps and address search: when you search for an address, what you type is sent to OpenStreetMap's search services (Photon and Nominatim), and the map pictures come from OpenStreetMap and Esri.
  • The weather forecast for a site comes from Open-Meteo, using the site's place on the map.

They only get what they need to do that job.

6. In your browser

Tempify uses cookies only to keep you logged in. Your browser also remembers your choice of light or dark theme and map style, and an unfinished tower form until you save it. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

7. How long we keep it

For as long as your company uses Tempify, and after that only as long as the law requires. Staff who leave are marked as having left; their check-ins, signatures and certificates stay, because site safety records must be kept.

8. What you can ask

You can ask to see the personal information we keep about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, and you can object to how it is used. You can change your own name, phone number and password on the account page. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Our contact details will be added here before launch.

9. Changes
